What To Expect From This Site

What To Expect From Us:

First and foremost, we want everyone to know that this blog was created for the sole purpose of us sharing our personal opinions, advice, and experiences along our money saving journey! We will NOT post matchups with store ads and coupons (there are several awesome sites that already do this and we will post their links on our page). We do NOT do "big hauls" on our shopping trips. If we come across a good deal we may stock up on several items, however all of our shopping trips are usually small and simple (but cheap or FREE!) We only buy a sufficient amount of things we need (typically about 6 months worth - it will always go on sale again!) or we buy things to donate for worthy causes. We are NOT shelf clearers! We do not see the need in buying 500 cans of tuna or 300 packages of noodles just because we can! Our couponing/saving style is simple yet effective. And we hope you can learn something from us on this new money saving adventure!

Kroger

~Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.~ -Proverbs 13:11

Kroger is a good store to catch great sales and combine them with coupons for an even bigger savings! Here are a few helpful tips when shopping at Kroger:
  • ALWAYS scan your Kroger card before starting your transaction, and before scanning any coupons. You may not receive all of your savings if you don't!
  • From what we've heard, each Kroger can have it's own coupon policy. Speaking of ours specifically (in Georgetown, KY), Kroger will double coupons up to $0.50. Any coupon $0.51 and higher is taken at face value. We suggest you email Kroger corporate and  ask them to send you a copy of the coupon policy specific to your store (we did this and had no problem receiving answers to all of our questions!)
  • Kroger has "e-coupons" that can be loaded onto your Kroger card via the internet. When you scan your card at checkout, the coupons will automatically be taken off (as long as your items match the coupon). We have heard that some people use "paper" coupons on top of "e-coupons" (also referred to as "stacking" coupons). Rumor has it this is a glitch in Kroger's computer system and is NOT acceptable (although sadly, many couponers do take advantage of it) In sense, they are stacking 2 manufacturer coupons on top of each other, which is not allowed in ANY other store! We strongly encourage you practice honest couponing!
  • Kroger does allow one store coupon, and one manufacturer coupon per item.
  • Kroger does not accept competitor coupons.
  • Internet printable coupons - This is a gray area for us - in the response to the email Dana received specifically about our Kroger, they stated they do NOT accept internet printable coupons. However, we have used them with no problems at our Kroger. We suggest checking with your Kroger to see what is allowed.
  • If an item is BOGO (Buy One Get One) you may use ONE BOGO coupon with the sale.
  • Overage - Another gray area - when we asked about receiving overage if the coupon amount is greater than the item amount, their response was that the coupon would not be accepted at all. However, our experience has been that overage is allowed. (Note: We have never gotten a negative balance and received cash back, it has simply been applied to the rest of our purchase!)
  • Some items you purchase may trigger catalinas (coupons that print next to the register when you checkout) Note that almost every coupon that prints is a MANUFACTURER coupon so it may be used at other stores, not just at Kroger!
  • Kroger's sales run Sunday-Saturday. To view their weekly ad click here.
As always, we strongly suggest you print a copy of it and carry it with you when shopping in case there are any discretion's at checkout!
