What To Expect From This Site

What To Expect From Us:

First and foremost, we want everyone to know that this blog was created for the sole purpose of us sharing our personal opinions, advice, and experiences along our money saving journey! We will NOT post matchups with store ads and coupons (there are several awesome sites that already do this and we will post their links on our page). We do NOT do "big hauls" on our shopping trips. If we come across a good deal we may stock up on several items, however all of our shopping trips are usually small and simple (but cheap or FREE!) We only buy a sufficient amount of things we need (typically about 6 months worth - it will always go on sale again!) or we buy things to donate for worthy causes. We are NOT shelf clearers! We do not see the need in buying 500 cans of tuna or 300 packages of noodles just because we can! Our couponing/saving style is simple yet effective. And we hope you can learn something from us on this new money saving adventure!

Walgreens

~....remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.~-Deuteronomy 8:18

Walgreens is another one of our favorite stores to shop at (if they have the deals we're looking for!) We find very often that their shelves are emptied very fast of the items that are advertised on sale that week. We don't know if that many people are beating us to the deals or if they simply aren't stocking the shelves with enough items. Regardless, we are almost always able to catch a few good deals at Walgreens each week! Here are a few tips about Walgreens:
  • Walgreens does have a Wellness Card program, but you do NOT have to scan a card at checkout!
  • Walgreens accepts one store coupon and one manufacturer coupon per item.
  • Walgreens store coupons can be found in their ads or in their savings books located wherever the sale ads are in the store. When using their store coupons, you only need one coupon even if buying multiple same items. (If you plan on stacking, you will need the same number of manufacturer coupons as items you are buying as they are different!)
  • Walgreens publishes a new savings book monthly.
  • Walgreens does NOT give overage if the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item. They will manually adjust the coupon down. (However, our experience at our Walgreens has been that the cashiers allow the overage and it is applied to the rest of your purchase! We're guessing this may be the luck of the draw with your store!)
  • You may not have more coupons than items in your overall transaction. This is where "fillers" (small, cheap items to even the transaction out) come in extremely handy! (Look for small candy, clearance, erasers, pencils, ANYTHING!)
  • Some items will trigger Register Rewards (a coupon that prints after your transaction). Every item that triggers RR's should have a sign on it. Occasionally you get a surprise RR you weren't expecting (which is always nice!)
  • You can NOT "roll" your Register Rewards when buying the same item. Example: A razor triggers a $5 RR. You purchase the first razor, receive the $5 RR and want to purchase a second razor. You MAY use your $5 RR from the previous purchase but you will NOT receive another $5 RR.You may use your RR's to pay for other items that trigger RR's and you will still receive those RR's at the end of your checkout.
  • Register Rewards are considered a "manufacturer coupon" so keep this in mind if you plan on using an RR to pay for a transaction with other coupons. (Be sure you have the same amount of items as coupons!)
  • Transactions - everybody is different! Some people prefer to pay for everything at once and save all of their RR's for their next purchase. We prefer to split our transactions and use our RR's to keep our out of pocket as low as possible. Keep in mind your first transaction is always the most expensive, but each one after it should be almost free or extremely cheap (depending on your items and your RR's!)
  • Walgreens allows up to 2 coupons for BOGO free items as long as the balance does not go below zero! (This means if an item is BOGO, you may use a BOGO coupon and receive both items free, or you may use BOGO coupons and "cents off" coupons along with the promotion!)
  • Handing over coupons - hand them over in this order: manufacturer coupons, Walgreens store coupons (from inserts or savings books), then register rewards to maximize your savings!
  • Walgreens sales run Sunday - Saturday.
