What To Expect From This Site

What To Expect From Us:

First and foremost, we want everyone to know that this blog was created for the sole purpose of us sharing our personal opinions, advice, and experiences along our money saving journey! We will NOT post matchups with store ads and coupons (there are several awesome sites that already do this and we will post their links on our page). We do NOT do "big hauls" on our shopping trips. If we come across a good deal we may stock up on several items, however all of our shopping trips are usually small and simple (but cheap or FREE!) We only buy a sufficient amount of things we need (typically about 6 months worth - it will always go on sale again!) or we buy things to donate for worthy causes. We are NOT shelf clearers! We do not see the need in buying 500 cans of tuna or 300 packages of noodles just because we can! Our couponing/saving style is simple yet effective. And we hope you can learn something from us on this new money saving adventure!

YES! We're At It Again!!

YES! We're still alive and still couponing! Sorry it has been sooooooooo long since an update but we are getting back on our game now! Check out today's mini shopping trip to Walgreens/CVS I made!
Walgreens - I had some other things I wanted but they didn't have what my coupon was for so I had to modify my transactions last minute:

Transaction #1:
3 Bounce bars @ $3.99 each

Used 1 $2.50/1 coupon and 2 $1.50/1 coupons
OOP = $7.19 after taxes + $3RR
Spend $10 on Participating Products receive $3RR

Transaction #2:
2 Ricola cough drops @ $2.29 each
1 Cepacol Lozenges @ 2.99
1 Peeps (used as filler) @$0.39

Used: Walgreens ad coupon for $1.29 Ricola + Walgreens Oct. coupon book coupon for $0.50 off 1 Ricola (allowed on both) + 2 $0.60 off 1 Ricola Mixed Berry manufacturer coupons = $0.19 each!
OOP= $1.12 (After using transaction #1 $3RR) and received another $3RR from Cepacol for future purchase

1 Covergirl Concealer @ $5.99
1 Covergirl Powder @ $5.99
Covergirl was on sale B1G1 half off!!
Used $8/2 Covergirl products
OOP = $1.52 for both after taxes!!

Total OOP today = $9.83 + $3 RR for next visit at Walgreens! So $6.83 for about $32 worth of stuff! Pretty awesome!!

Mini Walgreens/CVS Trip Today!

Hey guys! Sorry it's been FOREVER since we updated!! Summer sure has us both very busy! But not too busy to coupon! I had a $3.50 Register Reward to Walgreens that expired today so I HAD to use it, but didn't see anything I really HAD to have. But as always, I make the best of what I'm dealt and always try to come ahead with some deals. So keep in mind, these were not items I had to go buy, I just wanted to use my free $3.50! So here's how today went:
Walgreens Transaction #1:
1 Aussie Sprunch Spray - $3.99 - On sale for $3 - Used $1 off coupon = $2, received $1 Register Reward
3 Renuzit Cones - $1.39 - On sale for $0.99 - Used Buy 2 Get 2 Free coupon = $2
Total = $4 + tax - Used $3.50 Register Reward = $0.84 after tax and received $1 RR from Aussie

Walgreens Transaction #2:
1 Aussie Sprunch Spray - $3.99 - On sale for $3 - Used $1 off coupon = $2, received $1 Register Reward
Total = $2.18 after tax and received $1 RR from Aussie
Now to clarify a few things:

~Why did I purchase 2 Aussie in 2 separate transactions?
The ad states that the RR is a "limit 1" - that means 1 PER TRANSACTION!! I could've bought as many as I wanted, however, I would've only received 1 - $1 RR! Always do separate transactions!

~Why didn't I use the $1 RR from Transaction #1 to help pay in Transaction #2?
Because if you use an RR for the same deal, you will not receive another RR. Walgreens does NOT allow you to "roll" your RR's!! So I could've used it, however my 2nd RR wouldn't have printed!

So grand total at Walgreens = $3.02  +  $2 RR for future purchases! So basically - $1.02!!

(This one is easier !)
CVS body wash - $2.27 - Used coupon for free bodywash - FREE!
2 Plain M&M - $1.19 each - On sale 2/$1 - Used $0.75 off 2 coupon = $0.25 for 2 or about $0.12 each!
2 Peanut M&M - $1.19 each - On sale 2/$1 - Used $0.75 off 2 coupon = $0.25 for 2 or about $0.12 each!
Gain Dish Detergent -  $1.67 - On sale for $0.99 - Used $0.50 coupon = $0.49!
1 20ct box CVS bandaids - $3.79 - Used coupon from magic coupon machine for FREE bandaid! They were out of the ones the coupon was intended for so they were substituting ANY CVS bandaid in place! The coupon was for $4.29 so even though my bandaids were only $3.79, I got overage to apply to the rest of my purchase! Yay!
1 Caramello - $1.62 - On sale $1.19 - Used coupon from magic coupon machine for FREE Caramello!
My total after tax (because of the bandaid overage) was only $0.19!! And the cashier took some extra change from the purchase before mine and didn't make me pay!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE our CVS!! They are very coupon friendly and very helpful!! As always, SCAN YOUR CARD at CVS for those magic coupons! I almost always get something free every time! (I even got a free pack of gum that I didn't blog about earlier this week :P) Happy couponing and enjoy this beautiful weather!!

Goodies in the Mailbox!

Have you guys received any freebies in the mail this week? Today alone I received my FREE Pantene coupon, a $2 RR from Walgreens (I had to submit via mail because it didn't print at the store), and my first small check from Pinecone Research for participating in a survey! They are a highly reputable survey company and I was thrilled to get accepted into their panel! I will continue to update how they are the more I get into it. But $3/survey just for my opinion is definitely an awesome deal to me! They only open their registration every now and then so keep an eye out for when they are looking for new panelists and try to jump on! Some other survey sites I'm participating in are Opinion Outpost, Vocalpoint, and Synovate. I will also update you guys on those the farther I get into them! Happy couponing and stay cool!!

My Kroger Deals

So after finally sorting through and cutting my coupons, I realized that with Kroger's 10 for $10 I had a lot of freebies to go grab! So here is a misc. shopping trip from tonight! And just in case you didn't know, you do NOT have to buy 10 items to get them for $1 each! You can buy as many or as little of those items and they will still be $1 each!! So check out how I did it! Retail Value about $29.50. I paid about $8 AND got a $2 coupon off my next Kroger shopping trip (from buying the Crest toothpaste!) So I technically paid $6 for everything below:
Here's how I did it:
2 Oral B Indicator Toothbrushes - $2.70 each - On sale for $1 each - Used $2 off 2 coupon = FREE
3 Crest Toothpaste - $2.34 each - On sale for $1 each - Used 3 $0.75 coupons = $0.75 for all 3 or $0.25 each (normally the rule is NEVER pay for toothpaste, but I personally consider $0.25 a good deal AND I saw on a coupon blog that a $2 catalina coupon would print at checkout (see it in the pic) so I technically got paid $1.25 to take these out of the store!!)
1 2 pack Safeguard soap - $1.45 - On sale for $1 each - Used $0.50 coupon that doubled to $1 = FREE (and the ONLY soap my father-in-law will use so he'll be happy)
1 Sobe Lifewater - $1.59 - On sale for $1 - Used $0.50 coupon that doubled to $1 = FREE
2 Aussie Sprunch spray - $2.99 each - On sale for $2.50 each - Used 2 $1 coupons = $3 or $1.50 each (not the BEST deal, but pretty good and I use this stuff like crazy!!)
1 Pillsbury Cake Mix - $2.34 - On sale for $1 - Used $0.55 coupon = $0.45
1 Pillsbury Frosting - $2.29 - On sale for $1.69 - No coupon :(  - but you can't have cake mix and no frosting!
2 3Musketeers - $0.79 each - Used $0.50 off 2 coupon that doubled to $1 = $0.58 or $0.29 each!
Snack Pack Pudding - $1 - No coupon but my husband insisted he needed these!
1 Fischer Hotdog - $2.19 - On sale for $1 - Used $0.50 coupon that doubled to $1 = FREE!!

All in all I was VERY pleased with this trip! I absolutely LOVE Kroger's 10 for $10 now that I know how to match my coupons with the ads! In the end, you can grab a lot of freebies!

Combination of Stores!

So it's been about a week since we posted (sorry for the delay, but with summer, things can get pretty crazy for us!) I am posting 2 pictures of combined shopping trips mostly between Target, Walmart, and Kroger. And a few items from Meijer! Let's start with my health/beauty haul. The picture below retails for about $46 and I only paid about $12 after tax! Here's how I did it:
We'll start with Kroger:

2 Kotex Pads - On sale 2/$5 - Used 1 coupon for $1.50 off 2 (printable manufacturer) = $3.50 for all or $1.75 each.
1 Colgate Toothpaste - Part of the "Buy 10 Save $5" - It was $1 - Used 1 coupon for $.050 (manufacturer from newspaper) which double to $1 = FREE toothpaste :)

Meijer (this is short!):

2 Degree Women Deodorant trial size - $1 each - Used 2 $1 off coupons (printable manufacturer coupon) = 2 FREE deodorant
1 Colgate Toothpaste (not pictured because it's in use) - $1.25 - Used 1 $1 off coupon (manufacturer coupon from newspaper) = $0.25 (We literally bought this the day before they went on sale at Kroger for $1 - darn!)
1 Colgate Trial Toothpaste - $1 - Used $1 off ANY Colgate Total toothpaste (manufacturer coupon from newspaper) = FREE toothpaste!

2 Suave Professionals Styling Products - $2.74 each - Used 2 FREE Suave Professionals Styling Prodcuts (Won these playing Suave's online game) = 2 FREE Suave Products!
1 Bengay Topical Cream - $4.98 - Used $5 coupon (printable manufacturer) = +$0.02
2 U by Kotex Liners - $1.24 each - Used 2 $1 off coupons (printable manufacturer) = $0.48 or $0.24 each
Febreeze Luminary Starter Kit - Originally $9.97, Marked down to $5 (because it is Christmas) = $5
Febreeze Luminary Starter Kit Refill - $4.97 - Used "Buy 1 Luminary Starter Kit, Get 1 Refill Free" coupon (From P&G coupon book)= FREE Refill

1 Papermate Pen Pack - $1 - Used $1 off ANY Papermate product (Target Web Coupon) = FREE pens
2 Degree Men Deodorant trial size - $0.97 - Used 2 $1 off ANY Degree men deodorant (printable manufacturer) = FREE deodorant
2 Up & Up Liners - $0.87 each - Used 2 $0.75 off one Up & Up Feminine Product (Target Web Coupon)  = $0.24 or $0.12 each
1 Dove Men Shower tool with trial body wash - Originally $4.99 - On clearance for $2.72 - Used $1 off Dove Men+Care (Target Web Coupon) = $1.72

Now a breakdown of my best food deals. This picture retails for about $34 and I paid about $15!
Most of my best deals came from Kroger's "Buy 10 Save $5" and we did this deal twice in 2 weeks, however, I wasn't quick enough to get pictures of ALL the things we bought between the 2 pics (alot more waters, and some cat food!) But nonetheless, this still give you an idea of how I did!

Let's start with Kroger:

5 Smart Waters - $0.75 = $3.75
5 Vitamin Waters - $0.49 = $2.45
2 Classico Pasta Sauces - $1.72 - Used 2 $1 off Classico coupons (printable manufacturer) = $1.44 or $0.72 each
2 Chi Chis Salsas - $1.49 - Used 2 $0.50 coupons (manufacturer from newspaper) which doubled to $1 each = $0.98 or $0.49 each
2 Mt Dew 2 liters - $0.89 = $.178
Kroger Tortilla chips - $0.88

Snackwells Caramel Drizzled Popcorn - $2.79 - Used 1 $1 off (Kraft manufacturer coupon book) AND $1 off Target Web coupon = $0.79
3 Poptarts - On sale for $1.99 each - Used $1 off 3 (Target Web Coupon) AND $2 off 3 (printable manufacturer coupon) = about $3 or $1 each!
Ritz Crackerfuls - $2.74 - Used $1 off (Target Web coupon) = $1.74

I'm pretty pleased with my overall savings!! As always, I CANNOT stress enough how important it is to watch for sales, and clearance items to combine your coupons with! And ALWAYS print coupons as you find them, even if you think you won't need them! I find that 9 out of 10 times, the item you find a coupon for isn't on sale until a few weeks later and then it's too late to print the coupon!!
